How to create product bundles on the Dawn theme (checkout-safe)

Dawn is Shopify’s default free theme and, by a wide margin, the most common store setup on the platform. It’s a minimalist, responsive, section-based theme built for fashion and visual storytelling, and it’s what nearly every new merchant starts on. This guide covers how to create product bundles on the Dawn theme in a way that’s genuinely checkout-safe — no Liquid edits, no fragile scripts.

Because Dawn ships without any bundle or quantity-offer feature of its own, you need to add one. The good news is Dawn’s clean block architecture makes that a couple of clicks.

Two ways to bundle on Dawn

There are two honest routes.

Shopify’s native Bundles app lets you group distinct products into a fixed set (for example a “starter kit”). It’s free and checkout-native, but it creates a separate bundle product — it doesn’t add “buy 2, save 15%” style offers to your existing product page.

A product-page bundle widget — like the free Profit Flow AOV Bundle — puts the quantity offer directly on the product a shopper is already viewing: buy 2 get 1 free, 3-for-2, or tiered volume discounts. For most Dawn stores wanting to lift average order value, this is the route you want.

Setting it up on Dawn

Dawn’s product form lives in the main-product section, and app blocks mount there through the theme editor.

1. Install Profit Flow AOV Bundle from the Shopify App Store.
2. In Online Store → Themes → Customize, open a product template.
3. In the main-product section, click Add block and choose the Profit Flow block. Drag it just below the variant picker or add-to-cart button.
4. Configure your offer — for example buy 2, get 1 free or a x2 / x3 / x5 volume ladder.
5. Save. The block inherits Dawn’s fonts and spacing, so it looks native.

Because Dawn has no built-in upsell or bundle section, there’s nothing to disable — you won’t end up with two competing offers, which is a real risk on section-heavy premium themes. Just place the one block and you’re done.

Keep it checkout-safe

This is where most bundle tools quietly fail. A JavaScript-only widget can show “3rd item free” on the product page, but the moment the shopper reaches Shopify’s checkout — which apps can’t rewrite with scripts — the discount can vanish and they get charged full price.
