How to create product bundles on the Shrine theme (checkout-safe)

Create checkout-safe product bundles on the Shrine theme — replace its JS-only bundle/upsell with an offer a Shopify Function enforces at checkout.

🎬 Video walkthrough coming soon

Shrine is a conversion-oriented marketplace theme popular with DTC and dropshipping stores, and it ships with its own bundle and upsell features. That sounds convenient — but those features run in storefront JavaScript, which is exactly the problem this guide fixes. Here is how to create product bundles on the Shrine theme that are genuinely checkout-safe, so the discount a shopper sees is the discount checkout charges.

Two ways to bundle on Shrine

Shopify’s native Bundles app sells a fixed set of products as one item. It is checkout-safe by design, but it is a separate product with its own setup — heavier than a simple quantity offer.

A product-page bundle widget shows tiered offers — BOGO, 3-for-2, volume breaks — right in the product section, which fits Shrine’s conversion-led pages. The difference that matters is enforcement: the free Profit Flow AOV Bundle backs its offers with a Shopify Function, where Shrine’s built-in version does not.

Setting it up on Shrine (replace the native bundle)

Shrine’s key quirk is that it already has a bundle/upsell — so the job is to swap, not stack. In the theme editor, add the Profit Flow app block to the product section, then disable Shrine’s native bundle/upsell for that product.

If you leave both on, shoppers see two offers and, worse, the theme’s version is only cosmetic — a shopper can reach checkout with a JS-only “free” gift that was never qualified. Turn Shrine’s off, keep Profit Flow, and the page shows a single offer that holds.

Keep it checkout-safe

This is the whole reason to switch. Shrine’s bundle/upsell is drawn with storefront JavaScript: it displays a discount but nothing enforces it at checkout, so an unqualified free gift can stay free.

Profit Flow enforces the offer with a Shopify Function that runs inside Shopify’s checkout. Quantities and discounts are validated server-side, so the price shown equals the price charged and no gift slips through unqualified. Tiered pricing runs on the same enforcement — see our volume discounts.

For the wider comparison of approaches, the hub guide on how to create product bundles on Shopify lays them out honestly.

In short

On Shrine, don’t trust the built-in bundle for anything that touches price — replace it with a Function-backed offer that survives checkout. Add the block, disable the native version, publish.

FAQ

Does it clash with Shrine's native bundle/upsell?
It will if you leave both on. Shrine ships its own bundle and upsell features that run in storefront JavaScript. Add the Profit Flow block and disable Shrine's native version for that product so shoppers see one offer that actually holds.
Where does the widget mount on Shrine?
In the product section of the theme editor, near add-to-cart — ideally where Shrine's native bundle used to sit.
Is it enforced at checkout on Shrine?
Yes. A Shopify Function validates the offer server-side, so the price shown is the price charged and an unqualified gift can't stay free.
